Cheerleading is no walk in the part, it’s a combination of stunting, tumbling, jumps and a fast-paced dance. It is the perfect sport to build fitness and flexibility, to grow confidence, and to build resilience and strength. Cheerleading is one of the fastest growing sports worldwide due to its infectious positive nature.

Recreational Cheerleading – Recreational cheerleading covers all aspects of cheer without the competitions and additional commitments. We offer recreational cheer classes for aged 4 and up. Recreational cheerleading at Tyneside Ignite is a 1-hour weekly session.

 

Tumble Classes – Our tumble classes are perfect for those who want to take their skills to the next level and for competitive athletes who want additional training time. We offer tumble classes right from the fundamentals all the way through to level 6. Tumble classes at Tyneside Ignite are 1-hour weekly session.

 

Novice Cheer Teams – Novice cheer is the first step into the competitive cheerleading world – perfect for those who are ready to step up from recreational cheer classes or are new to the sport. Novice cheer teams will attend up to 3 UK based competitions throughout the season and will train 2 times per week for 1 hour in each session.

 

Prep Cheer Teams – Prep cheer is for those with some experience in cheerleading or gymnastics. Prep cheer will attend up to 4 UK based competitions throughout the season and will train 2 times per week for up to 90 minutes in each session.

 

Elite Cheer Teams – Elite cheer teams are for our older athletes with experience in cheerleading, being on an elite cheer team requires a high level of commitment and hard work. These teams will train 2 times per week for 90 minutes per session. Elite cheer teams will compete around the UK, the number of competitions per season will vary depending on the team.

 

International Cheer Teams – International cheer is for those who show a strong skill level in cheerleading at any level, being on an international cheer team requires the highest level of commitment. International cheer will attend up to 5 competitions throughout the season, which may include travel to other countries such as Barcelona, Amsterdam or the USA. These teams will train 2 times per week for 90 minutes in each session.

As our Barnsley venue is our newest location, we are currently offering recreation and development opportunities only. As we recruit more athletes, we intend to create a competitive programme and add tumble classes to our timetable. Our current rec and development teams train once or twice per week.

We have a place for everyone at Ignite Cheerleading. Whether that be in a development team, a beginner competition team or a more advanced team. Team placement is a decision made by our coaching staff; members will be placed on the team that we feel they are most suited to. We require all athletes and parents/guardians to trust our decision making and approach all new teams with a positive attitude.

Yes! Our ever-growing recreational cheerleading programme is perfect for those who only want to cheer for fun. These teams require no experience and no commitment. These teams are perfect for making new friends and staying active. Contact the location near you to find out times and prices.

No, but that’s perfectly normal! Most athletes will spend multiple seasons at a level before having the skills to advance onto the next. Athletes should become the master of the skills at their level before being considered for a level higher. Every athlete will progress at a different rate, try not to compare your athlete to their friends.

Tyneside Ignite – yes, the opportunities to travel will change each year, examples may include Barcelona, Amsterdam or USA. We also have plenty of opportunities for those NOT wishing to travel outside of the UK.

Ignite Barnsley – this is the goal eventually, currently we are a programme aiming to develop into competitive cheerleading in the UK.
